This 1967 Porsche 911 2.0 S is finished in Bahama Yellow over a black leatherette interior. Its 1,991cc SOHC TYpe 901/02 flat six-cylinder engine has twin Weber 40 IDS carburetors and delivers 160 horsepower at 6,600 RPM. There is a five-speed manual transaxle, an independent suspension, and four-wheel ventilated disc brakes. Optional amenities include tinted glass, a strut brace, headrests, and a Becker Europa radio with speaker and antenna. There is a travel kit containing spare parts such as bulbs, fuses, gaskets, and spark plugs.
This Porsche was completed on May 20, 1967, and was one of 1,823 Porsche 911 S coupes manufactured that year. It was sold new through VW Pacific of Culver City, California, and picked up at the Porsche factory by first owner George Vernon Russell of Los Angeles, CA. Mr. Russell and his family trekked through the continent to Turkey after the delivery of this 911 S in Zuffenhausen, Germany.
After arriving in the United States, it is believed that the Porsche 911 S was serviced by Bob Smith Volkswagen-Porsche-Audi of Hollywood, California. In July 1985, the Porsche was purchased through that dealership by Walt Hagstrom of Laguna Niguel, California.
In 2012, the Porsche was sent to Ruben Morales of Everyone's Garage in Harbor City, California, for a mechanical restoration. The work included a drivetrain rebuild, and the braking and suspension systems received similar attention. In early 2013, K&H European Auto Upholstery in Garden Grove, California, reupholstered the interior using the correct leatherette material.
The car entered new ownership in 2013, acquired by European Collectibles in Costa Mesa, California. Additional mechanical, cosmetic, and detail work was performed, including a Glasurit repaint from bare metal in its original hue.
The current owner acquired the Porsche in October 2014. Since then, the car has been displayed at the Greystone Mansion Concours d'Elegance and San Marino Motor Classic.By Daniel Vaughan | Dec 2023
