1937 Alfa Romeo 6C 2300B Navigation
This Alfa Romeo 6C 2300B wears a Turismo Cabriolet body created by Battista 'Pinin' Farina. It has a streamlined front end with bullet-shaped headlamps and the designer's signature 'bow' nose. It has a sporty appearance with a hinged windscreen, pontoon fenders, and long, rear-hinged doors. An advanced electro-pneumatic mechanism patented by Pinin Farina in 1934 was used for the power-operated folding soft top.
The 2,309cc dual overhead camshaft inline 6-cylinder engine has a single Solex carburetor and produces 70 horsepower at 4,400 RPM. There is a four-speed manual gearbox, four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes, an independent front suspension with coil springs, and a rear swing axle with shock absorbers.
This car was displayed at the annual International Auto Show, held in Berlin, between February 18th and March 6th, 1938. It is believed that it was sold new in Germany, although its first recorded owner was Paul Schwegler, who, in 1946, registered the car in Zurich as 'ZH-17540.'
In 1952, while in the care of Eugen Szedalik, the Pinin Farina Cabriolet made a brief cameo in the French film Massacre en Dentelles, directed by André Hunebelle.
The Alfa Romeo resided in Switzerland for most of its existence before relocating to France in the 1990s. Dott. Luca Savoia purchased the 6C 2300B in 1996, and while in his care, it was restored by Italian specialists, returning it to its original color scheme of burgundy with red leather upholstery and a tan soft top. The current owner purchased the car in 2013.By Daniel Vaughan | Dec 2023
