1966 Ferrari 330 GT Navigation
The 250 GTE of 1960 was Ferrari's first four-seat model, and the space for the rear seats was due to the engine being moved forward rather than lengthening the wheelbase. By the time the Ferrari 250 GTE was replaced in 1964, the 2+2 seating configuration had become an important enough model to warrant a dedicated longer wheelbase.
Ferrari replaced the 250 GTE with a new car dubbed the 330 GT 2+2. The rear styling of the car was a new design language by Pininfarina, which would later be echoed on several other models. At the front was a controversial four-headlight arrangement that eventually was replaced with more conventional styling in 1965. The Colombo V12 engine displaced 3,967cc (4.0 liters) and, with the help of three Weber twin-choke carburetors, produced 300 horsepower at 6,600 RPM.
This particular Series II 330 GT 2+2 Coupe originally wore a black paint scheme and was equipped with Borrani wire wheels. Additional amenities included air-conditioning, electric windows, and a Becker Europa radio. Originally delivered in Italy, the Ferrari was relocated to the United States by the 1970s, where it has remained ever since. While spending nearly forty years on the West Coast, this 330 Gt 2+2 was given a comprehensive restoration by Rod Drew's Francorchamps of America Inc. (FAI). During this process, the exterior was repainted in dark blue and the interior was retrimmed in parchment leather with Blu Scuro (Dark Blue) carpets. The restoration work was completed in 2016.By Daniel Vaughan | May 2024
