1981 Porsche 928 Navigation
Featuring Grand Prix white paint with a black leather interior, a five-speed manual transmission, and phone-dial wheels, with 70,000 miles shown; this 928 was sold new in Sioux City, Iowa ,on June 7, 1981.
Options include a Blaupunkt digital radio, a right-side mirror and side rub strips. This low option 982 is notably missing many unusually selected options like automatic transmission, sunroof, power seats, and storage bins. 928 S-Type spoilers were added by the prior owner or perhaps by the selling dealership.
Known ownership for more than 20 years in California with two owners.
Since 2013, this 928 has undergone numerous restoration projects by its current owner and selected 928 specialists, which included a complete engine rebuild, torque tube rebuild, transmission rebuild (including LSC), full chassis refresh, comprehensive wheels refinish, brakes overhaul, and much more.
Prior ownership also fitted leather upholstery on the dash, doors, and console, completed a full AC rebuild, and many other details.
Since 2014, this 928 has been shown and placed in more than 20 concours-type events throughout California and has achieved numerous wins, and is highly regarded as one of the best examples around.
Designed in-house by Porsche in the 1970s, including the engine, the 928 was intended to be the successor model for the 911. A water-cooled V8 upfront, transaxle transmission out back, wide use of aluminum in the suspension and body, yielded a 50/50 weight distribution for excellent handling. Far more luxurious inside than the 911, the 928 offered effortless power and a comfortable, smooth ride on any road. In production from 1978 to 1995, the 928 stands along as a unique sports GT car in Porsche model history.
