1999 Shelby Series One Navigation
Of the 249 Shelby Series 1 Roadsters produced, only six examples were painted black by Shelby. This example, car number 91, has an optional black leather interior and is powered by the IndyCar-derived aluminum Aurora V8 4.0-liter V8 engine mated to a ZF six-speed transaxle. It is one of approximately 60 cars built with the optional supercharger and MagnaFlow stainless steel exhaust.
The Shelby Series 1 had a carbon fiber body, a lightweight, high-strength aluminum box frame chassis, and an overall weight of 2,650 pounds. The suspension is comprised of dual wishbones with inboard mounted coil-overs with remote reservoir dampers.
This example was owned by the co-creator of Patrón Tequila, Martin Crowley, and he took delivery on December 14, 2000. It returned to Shelby in September 2002 and was given the optional supercharger.
When Mr. Crowley passed away in 2003, the car was sold into new ownership where it resided until October 2009, when it was sold again. Since then, the car was sold one more time to the current owner in November 2019.
