1911 Pierce-Arrow Model 48 Navigation
This 1911 Pierce-Arrow Model 48SS was acquired by Monty Holmes of Seattle, Washington in the 1960s. He discovered and purchased the car in the Southwest and trailered it home. At the time, it wore a formal Vestibule Sedan that was complete except for a missing door. Around the 1970s, the Pierce-Arrow was sold to Ernest Crutcher in an unrestored state. Mr. Crutcher decided to restore the Model 48 in the 1970s and give it a Roadster body. To accommodate the smaller coachwork, the chassis was shortened.
After the restoration was completed, Mr. Crutcher drove it in HCCA events for years. The current caretaker acquired the Pierce-Arrow in 2021, and then turned it over to Robin Onsein for substantial mechanical work. The work included the addition of an electric starter, coil-based ignition, and a Schebler carburetor.
