1948 Delahaye 135 M Navigation
The 3.5-liter Delahaye 135 was introduced in 1935 and employed an independent front suspension, a Cotal gearbox, and center-lock wire wheels. This particular example wears coachwork by Chapron and was ordered new by Monsieur Ladoubled of Paris on February 3, 1948. It arrived at the workshop of carrosserie Henri Chapron on February 12, 1948. When it left, it wore lavender gray paintwork and metallic blue fender moldings.
At some point in this car's existence, a trio of Solex downdraft carburetors were added to the 3,557cc OHV inline 6-cylinder engine, bringing output to 130 bhp at 3,850 RPM.
This Delahaye was recently purchased by Sam and Emily Mann before it was brought to Gooding & Company's auction in Pebble Beach in 2024. Estimated to sell around $200,000 to $300,000, this Type 135M found new ownership for the sum of $224,000, inclusive of buyer's premium.By Daniel Vaughan | Oct 2024
