1989 Aston Martin V-8 Vantage Convertible Coupe

Among the finest grand tourer of its era, the Aston Martin V8 combined performance with elegance, sophistication, and luxury. Just over four thousand examples were built over three decades, beginning in 1969 and continuing through 1989. The Tadek Marek-designed V78 engine displaced 5,340 cc and featured Bosch fuel injection, and although output was not officially released, estimates center around 315 horsepower. The exterior styling by William Towns was modern yet retained the traditional Aston Martin look, with four headlights, a squared-off grille, and a large front air dam.

The convertible version, known as the 'Volante', was introduced in June 1978 and brought soft-top luxury to the line. It was a lined, power-operated top that traded open-top motoring for a slightly lower top speed than its coupe sibling, yet its 150 mph maximum nevertheless ranked it among the world's fastest convertibles. Continuous improvements witnessed the addition of BBS wheels in 1983, followed by a Weber-Marelli fuel injection system which allowed for a flatter hood in 1986.

This particular V8 Vantage Volante was completed at Aston Martin's factory in August 1989. It is one of just 58 examples produced in US Vantage specification, distinguished from the non-US version by its front air dam, sill plates, a kick-up trunk lid, and wider fender flares.

This Aston Martin V8 Vantage Volante left the factory wearing a maroon paint scheme with matching red deep-dish wheels. The interior is furnished with wood, biscuit-colored hides, and red piping. There are power seats, air conditioning, and an Alpine stereo head unit.

This Aston Martin spent its early life in Florida before arriving in New York around 2003. Currently, its odometer shows 11,569 miles.
