This Byers Racing Special has its original CR 90 body built by Jim Byers of El Segundo, California, in 1959. It has been vintage raced for the past twenty years.
Jim Weissenborn has raced MGs for the past forty-seven years. Beginning in a 1952 MGTD and moving on to a 1960 Sebring Twin Cam in early SCCA Races on the east coast --- the past years have included over eighty vintage races on fourteen different tracks throughout the U.S. and Canada.
The 1959 Byers MGA Special was purchased on the east coast in 2002 and is now racing on the west coast vintage circuit. The Byers MGA has raced at most of the vintage events in the east. Winner of Mount Tremblant, Canada. Raced at Elkhart Lake, Watkins Glen, Mosport, Mid-Ohio, VIR, Pocono, New Hampshire (NHIS), Lime Rock, Road Atlanta, Summit Point, and the Pittsburgh Grand Prix. It also raced at Sears Point, Laguna Seca, Willow Springs, Button Willow, and Thunderhill in the west.
