2008 Spyker C8 Laviolette Navigation
The resurgence of the Spyker brand in the early 21st century can be attributed to the endeavors of Victor Muller and Maarten de Bruijn. Their C8 Spyder was a bespoke Dutch supercar unveiled in 2000 and featured an aluminum spaceframe chassis, 4.2-liter Audi V-8, manual gearbox, and alloy bodywork. Among the many styling elements that paid tribute to the company's aviation heritage were rear 'cannon-port' vents, a prominent wide grille intake, aluminum construction, fuselage-type styling, aircraft-type switchgear, and engine-turned dashboard.
The racing-inspired mechanical componentry included a fully independent suspension and a six-speed Getrag gearbox.
The Spyker C8 Laviolette was introduced in 2001 as a closed version of the 'cloth top' Spyder, featuring a glass canopy with an integrated intake vent for the rear-mid-mounted, 4.2-liter Audi V-8 engine. The Laviolette was far more exclusive than its open counterpart, with a mere 58 (as few as 55) examples built. Top speed was achieved at 186 mph.
This particular 2008 Laviolette (chassis number 182) wears a bespoke color combination of Black Olive Green over Saddle quilted leather with Dark Green contrast stitching. It is the only Spyker ever made in this color combination. It has a factory sound system, quad dashboard vents, a cast oil-filler cap, stainless steel engine covers, 'whisper' exhaust module, and an engine-turned aluminum dashboard panel.
This Spyker was displayed on the company's stand at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show. After the show, it was retailed by Beerens Spyker of Antwerp and thusly sold into a private collection, which added just 60 kilometers to its odometer. In 2020, it was purchased by an American Spyker enthusiast who entrusted the car to Jasper den Dopper for a comprehensive maintenance regimen prior to its export from the Netherlands. Upon its arrival in the U.S., it had fewer than 72 kilometers since new. According to den Dopper, 'This is the cleanest and lowest mileage Spyker C8 Laviolette in the world.'
Between 2021 and 2022, the Spyker was exhibited at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.
