1978 Dome Zero Prototype Navigation
In 1975, automotive tuner and racing aficionado Minoru Hayashi founded Dome Co. Ltd. to build racing vehicles in which new technologies could be tested. The Zero, Dome's sensational prototype for a roadgoing supercar, employed Nissan's L28E engine (also used in the 280Z) and was intended to offer an alternative to exotic European supercars. Dome later developed the P-2, a Zero-based prototype ultimately aimed at the American market and featured on the cover of Road & Track in 1979. A racing version dubbed the Zero RL competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in 1979, 1980, and 1981.
