1935 Maserati V8RI Navigation
Maserati built four examples of the V8RI, and this particular example was the first. It made its racing debut in 1935 at the Grand Prix de la Marne where it was driven by Philippe 'Phi-Phi' Étancelin. Its day ended early due to a crash. After repairs were made by the factory, it emerged with a trailing-arm rear suspension and a four-speed manual gearbox.

The Maserati was sent to the United States in 1937, where it was driven by Deacon Litz in the Vanderbilt Cup. It attempted to race at the Indianapolis 500 on six occasions but failed in every attempt.

Phil Cade acquired the Maserati in 1950 and expanded its racing resume over his lengthy ownership, which concluded in 2003. Around 1953, the car was fitted with a Hemi V8 engine. In 1958, Cade and the Maserati won the Seneca Grand Prix.

After entering new ownership, the Maserati was given a restoration, which lasted eight years. The completion of the work coincided with Maserati's centenary celebration in 2014.
