1910 Packard Model Thirty Navigation
The Packard Model 30 was introduced in 1907 as a replacement for the outgoing Model S. Improvements upon its predecessor included an increase in engine displacement and larger valves, allowing the 432 cubic-inch, four-cylinder T-head engine to propel the Model to speeds of 60 mph.
This particular seven-passenger Model 30 Touring was sold new to Judge George Long of Louisville, Kentucky. The car later passed to his son, George Jr. The Long family would retain the Packard for the next 79 years before selling the Model 30 to Ross Bewley of Stockton, California, in 1989. The Packard was retained by Mr. Bewley for the next decade, eventually being acquired by collector Rick Rawlins, who in turn sold the Model 30 in 2004 to William Alley.
For some unknown reason, the car's paint was removed in 1950, and appropriate-looking paint was applied, which matches the original finishes on the rest of the car.
This Packard is powered by a 432 cubic-inch T-head inline four-cylinder engine with a single Updraft carburetor and produces 30 horsepower (rated) at 650 RPM. There is a three-speed manual transaxle, two-wheel mechanical drum brakes, and a live rear axle with semi-elliptical and transverse leaf springs.By Daniel Vaughan | Mar 2025
