1899 Oldsmobile Rocket Navigation
This 1899 Oldsmobile, a one cylinder runabout, was one of the first series of production cars built by Ransom E. Olds. Oldsmobile participated in many early racing and durability events in the early days of American motoring.
A curved dash Oldsmobile was the first production car to complete a coast-to-coast record run in 1898. In 1903 the single cylinder Olds Pirate became the first American production car to exceed the 'Mile a Minute' mark. This early Olds was races successfully until 1921 and is now on loan to the North Carolina Auto Racing Hall of Fame by Robert McLaughlin.
