1970 ISO Rivolta GT Navigation
Renzo Rivolta, a very successful Italian industrialist and manufacturer of motorcycles and Isettas, decided that there was a need for a GT car as an alternative to a Ferrari or Maserati. His technical personnel built a very well-thought-out chassis for that time, and Carrozzeria Bertone designed the body. Rivolta combined these elements with a Chevrolet Corvette powertrain so that it would be reliable and easy to maintain. This example, chassis number 718, is historically significant. After Renoz passed away, his son Piero took over the operation of the family business, and thought it important for Iso (pronounced 'eeso') to enter a car in the LeMans 24 Hours race. Piero wanted to enter a car that he could drive to the opera, so he painted it blue and installed a leather interior. Iso engineers modified what was probably the factory's last 365-hp engine. They had successfully built a GT car that you could drive to the opera or do a fast lap at LeMans.
