1968 Bizzarrini 5300 Strada Navigation
The Bizzarrini Strada was first seen in November 1963 at the Turin Auto Show. This car was a collaboration between Iso, Bertone, and Bizzarrini to produce a car with long-distance racing in mind (i.e., Le Mans). It is powered by a Corvette 327, either in 350 or 365 hp form, with a four-speed Borg-Warner transmission. The engines were modified to ensure longevity on the high-speed autobahns of Europe. Top speed, depending on gear ratio, was in the 140 - 180 mph range. Stradas were recognized as one of the best-handling cars of the era. This was due to the placement of the engine, as it sat several inches behind the front axle---so much so that the distributor is accessed through a panel on top of the dash. This car was built in 1968 with a 350 hp engine and four-speed transmission. The top speed is around 160 mph, with 0 to 60 in the 6.5 to 7-second range.
