In the 1930s, Packard attempted to beat the depression by producing ever more opulent vehicles. Packard had one advantage that the other manufacturers didn't - a single production line.
The Coupe Roadster was the only open-body style offered in the Model 1001 lineup. It was manufactured in February of 1933, and was referred to as the '10 Series.' The vehicle was shipped to the Packard dealer in Seattle, Washington, and delivered to a doctor. The price of this Model 1001 was stunning: $2.250 in 1933.
Power is from a 320 cubic-inch, nine main bearings, straight-eight engine offering 120 horsepower, an increase from 111 horsepower the prior year.
The underhood cowl tag displays this vehicle as being delivered on March 14th, 1933 by Packard Washington. The early history is not known. What is known is that Robert Brinkman of Glendale, California, acquired in the 1950s or 1960s and had the car restored during the 1970s. It was sold to the current caretaker in 1995, who commissioned a full, frame-off restoration in 1998. It is finished in two-tone paint of tan over maroon. There is a tan canvas top, maroon leather interior, and chromed wire wheels.
Its first 'post-restoration' event was the 2008 Meadow Brook Concours d'Elegance where it received the Debut Award for the best-restored car.By Daniel Vaughan | Sep 2016
