1949 Veritas C-90 Coupe

This Sport Coupe is one of 10 to 15 coupes built by Veritas using the prewar BMW 328 chassis and running gear. The BMW 328 was powered by an overhead valve inline 6-cylinder engine displacing 1971cc and delivering 130 horsepower, with a top speed of 125 mph. The chassis had coil spring suspension, independent front, rack and pinion steering, and hydraulic drum brakes. This car was brought to the United States by a German journalist who initially drove it from New York to Hollywood, then used it as his daily driver. In 1951, a Veritas was converted into a single-seat Formula 1 racer known as the Meteor. Under the F2 regulations, a number of Veritas cars raced in the 1951 and 1952 Grand Prix seasons.
