1955 Buick Century Series 60 Convertible Coupe

Buick's new performance car, the Century, was based on the lighter Special body and the more powerful Roadmaster engine. These models had four ventiports on each front fender. Standard equipment included tubeless tires, directional signals, front and rear side armrests, stop-on parking brakes, heavy insulation, trip odometer, and electric clock.

Buick took over number three in the sales race with 781,296 units sold for the 1955 model year.

The 1955 Century design was one of Harley Earl's personal favorites. It incorporated a sweeping side line, strong face and jet-age tail. It embodied everything that put GM at the pinnacle of American car design, in the mid-1950s. The Century was Buick's smallest platform, but was powered by the division's largest engine. This made it a favorite with law enforcement agencies who patrolled freeways and turnpikes across the nation.

The current owner of this car rescued it from being destroyed and gave it a two-year, 3,000 hour restoration. The owner performed most of the restoration personally. The car was the subject of the first ever four-part series of articles in Hemming's Classic Car Magazine.
