This 1960 Chevrolet Corvette was one of three Cunningham entries at that year's 24 Hours of LeMans. This Corvette, wearing race #2, was not raced Sebring, while the other two examples - chassis 3535 and 2538, did. Its racing debut was the 24 Hours of LeMans where it was driven by Dick Thompson and Fred Windridge. At hour three, Thompson was involved in an accident and was able to drive the car back to the pits for repair. After repairs were complete, the car was in 37th place. It was driven back to the 19th position before the engine trouble ended the car's efforts in the 20th hour (207 laps).
After LeMans, the car was brought back to the United States and sold to Bill Frick without the engine. It has since been restored to Le Man's specification.By Daniel Vaughan | Jun 2021
