English Racing Automobiles was founded in 1933 by a group of racing enthusiasts including the first-rate driver Raymond Mays. With help from the British Motor Industry, the company set its sights on the popular Voiturette races in Europe, which were dominated by the Italian Maseratis. Designed by Reid Railton and built by Thompson and Taylor at Brooklands the ERAs became one of the most dominant marques in international motor racing. This particular example, R2B, was famously owned by two Siamese (Thai) Princes - Prince Chula and his cousin and driver Prince Bira. ERA R2B is affectionately named 'Romulus' after one of the Roman twins. This particular example is undoubtedly the most original of all ERAs.
