During the 1920s, Packard's product line evolved from having the Twin-Six as its principal product to focusing on the straight-eight engine, which in one form or another, became the mainstay of the Packard stable. The Packard Eight was available with 12 different body styles. This particular car has a Sport Body built by the Pullman Company, normally known for its railway carriages. The Sport model was only available with this ultralight, four-seat coachwork. Just six examples are known to survive, and this is the only unrestored model in the world.
