1971 Lancia Stratos HF Prototype Navigation
This Lancia Stratos Prototype debuted at the 1971 Turin Motor Show, a year after a very different Bertone Stratos styling exercise had first been shown to the public. Lancia was working on a new competition engine, but initially, a Fulvia and then a Beta engine was used. Bertone finally fitted the Stratos with a stock Ferrari Dino engine and began full production of the Lancia Stratos rally car. By October 1974, the 400 cars needed for homologating the Stratos for Group 4 rallying were completed. The prototype's current owner, designer Chris Hrabalek, owns several Lancia Stratos, including both road and rally cars, and is the designer of the Stratos Concept car that was presented at the 2005 Geneva Salon.
