1964 Morgan 4/4 Series V Navigation
Between February 1963 and March 1968, 640 of the Series V Morgans were built; of these, approximately 270 were equipped with the Cortina GT engine and were designated as the Competition model. The engine produced 83.5 horsepower due to a high lift camshaft, twin choke downdraught Weber carburetors, high compression cylinder head and tubular exhaust headers. The gearbox has a nice all-synchro 4-speed actuated by a unique push/pull rod.
This car was dispatched from the factory on March 10th of 1964 to Morgan agent Jacques Savoy in Paris, France. The car stayed in France for 20 years then went to Germany for 10 years, then was brought to California. The current owner purchased it in 2000 and did a leisurely restoration that was completed in 2007.
The engine is the original block; head, crank, inlet manifold and exhaust headers. Modifications include larger valves, a special camshaft, lightened flywheel and a newer revision of the original downdraught Weber.
