1974 Lola T332 Formula Racer

The most successful car in the 1969-1976 International Formula 5000 series, the Lola T332 was driven to three consecutive SCCA/USAC Formula 5000 championships by Englishmen Brian Redman in 1974, 1975 and 1976. This particular car, chassis number T332 HU0037, was raced by Redman for Sid Taylor the 1974 Rothmans European Formula 5000 championship, winning at Silverstone and Oulton Park. For the remainder of the 1974 season and most of the 1975 season, it was raced in Europe and the US by Australian Vern Schuppan for Theodore Racing. At various times 0037 was driven by Bob Evans, Tony Brise and by future Formula One champion, Alan Jones. The car was later raced in Australia and New Zealand in the Rothmans International Series.

Formula 5000 racing provided some of the most exciting professional road racing in the early to mid 1970s. Many outstanding drivers took part in the series including Mario Andretti, Brian Redman, Al Unser, Mark Donohue and Jody Scheckter. The first Long Beach Grand Prix in 1975 (now a CART race) was a Formula 5000 race won by Brian Redman in a Lola T332.
