Oldsmobile hit the 100,000 sales mark for the first time in 1928 - just before the 1929 stock market crash. The introduction of a synchromesh transmission in 1932 and the 82 horsepower straight eight motor in 1932 failed to increase sales. Finally in 1933, sales numbers more than doubled when Oldsmobile offered a new design, highlighted by what journalists called 'beaver-tail rears.'
In 1934, Oldsmobile offered independent front suspension, increased horsepower in the 213 cubic-inch inline six engine and subtle styling changes. Sales jumped from just over 3,000 to more than 82,000, moving Oldsmobile into sixth place for U.S. auto sales.
This 1934 Oldsmobile features the 'Group B' options - for an extra $12.50 the owner bought dual windshield wipers, dual trumpet horns and an automatic choke. The car also has dual side mounted tires and a rear trunk.
