1966 Aston Martin DB6 Vantage Coupe

Sir David Brown was head of the Aston Martin company from 1947 through 1972. During that period, some of the company's most impressive and charismatic models have been created. From 1949 through 1958, the DB2 hand-built series were the start of the legendary 'DB' series. They were powered by the 2.6/2.9 liter engines from the pre-war era designed by W.O. Bentley. In 1959, the DB4 series was introduced, powered by a new 3.78-liter, twin-cam alloy six-cylinder engine, designed by Tadek Merek. Versions of this engine, in various guises, powered the DB4, DB5, and DB6 Astons for the next 13 years.

The DB6 continued many of the design elements found in the DB5, such as the covered headlamp nose. Standard features found on the DB6 included wire wheels, power-assisted Girling disc brakes and a limited-slip differential. The interior was comprised of Connolly leather and Wilton wool. The potent powerplant offered its occupants a zero-to-sixty time of under seven seconds. The top speed was in the neighborhood of 148 mph. Between 1965 and 1970 there were 1,327 examples produced.

This 1966 Aston Martin DB6 is chassis number 2448/R and was delivered to its first owner, John Robert Stockford - a United Kingdom citizen, on February 2nd of 1666. It is a fully documented car with its complete history known since new. The car current has 99,000 miles listed on its odometer.

In 2008, this vehicle was offered for sale at the 'Sports & Classics of Monterey' presented by RM Auctions. It had an estimated value of $120,000 - $150,000 and was offered without a reserve. The lot was sold for a high bid of $123,750, which includes buyer's premium.
