1956 Mercedes-Benz 220 Series
The Mercedes-Benz 220S Sedan was unveiled to the world at the Frankfurt Auto Show. The 220S - or Super - was intended for the enthusiastic audience who sought quality and craftsmanship. The Sedan version was the first of the series to be introduced, with a convertible option appearing shortly thereafter, followed by a hard top in 1957. In total, there were fewer than 3,500 coupes and convertibles constructed.

Under the bonnet of the 220 Series Mercedes-Benz was an inline six-cylinder engine that was the same size as the 219, but with additional horsepower. Over the years, Mercedes would continue to fine-tune and enhance the 2,195cc engine.

This particular 1957 Mercedes-Benz 220S cabriolet has a tan convertible top, tan leather upholstery, and a burgundy exterior. Inside there is a clock and an original AM/FM radio.

In 2008, this vehicle was offered for sale at the 'Sports & Classics of Monterey' presented by RM Auctions. It had an estimated value of $50,000 - $75,000. The lot was sold for a high bid of $66,000, including buyer's premium.
