Chassis #: 004/R1
The 246 F1 cars were raced by Ferrari for three seasons from 1958 to 1960. The cars were continuously developed from race-to-race. These cars were driven by some of the greatest names in racing. Phil Hill, Wolfgang von Trips, Richie Ginther, Dan Gurney, Mike Hawthorne, Peter Collins, Tony Brooks, Cliff Allison and Jean Behra all drove Ferrari 246 F1 cars. Numerous wins and podium finishes gained 2nd place for Ferrari in the constructor's championship in 1958 and 1959.
After retiring the cars at the end of the 1960 racing season, Ferrari dismantled all but one of the surviving cars. In 1971, Ferrari sold the remaining car and all parts to English Ferrari collector, Sir Anthony Bamford. Bamford sent the remaining car and all the parts to Greypaul Motors in England to re-assemble this replica of the famous vehicle as chassis 004/R1.
