1931 Stutz Model SV-16 Cabriolet Coupe

  • Chassis Number: 33081HC
The SV-16 was capable of 90 mph and offered luxurious interior amenities and graceful coachwork. This Cabriolet Coupe was originally sold in the Boston area. It remained there until it was discovered by the late S. Ray Miller of Elkhart, Indiana, in 1978. It was found in largely unrestored condition and had its original top and leather interior. During 1979 and 1980, the car was given a restoration. Upon completion, the car was put on the show circuit, placing first at the CCCA Grand Classic in Indiana, the National Jr. AACA in North Carolina, the National Senior AACA in Michigan, the National Preservation Award at Hershey, and the AACA President's Club Award. It has also won an award at the Meadow Brook Concours d'Elegance. It has been awarded the CCCA's Highest Point Classic Award, recognizing it as a 100-point car.

The car is finished in two-tone gray with maroon pinstriping over a gray leather interior. There is a black Haartz top with maroon piping. It is powered by a 322 cubic-inch overhead camshaft inline eight-cylinder engine with single Zenith carburetors and is capable of producing 113 horsepower. There is a four-speed Warner manual gearbox and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes with booster.

In 2009, this SV-16 Cabriolet Coupe was offered for sale at the Gooding & Company auction held in Scottsdale, Arizona, where it was estimated to sell for $90,000 - $120,000 and offered without reserve. The lot was sold for $132,000, including the buyer's premium.
