1959 Huffaker BMC MK1 Monoposto

One of two factory team cars, chassis 11 & 12, were driven by Ken Miles, Jerry Titus, and Jack Dalton. An article in Sports Car Graphic, June 1961, described the 1960 original race of the 'Mule', at the airport course in Stockton, California where the BMC Mark 1 finished first. These two chassis were the first two of approximately 20 total cars produced.

By the end of 1961, front-engine cars were obsolete, as rear-engine cars loomed on the horizon. The original car was priced at $3,995, ready to race.

Car number 12, the front engine chassis, runs a 1098cc BMC A-series motor and sprite gearbox, with braking front & rear by sprite drum brakes. The car appears as period raced and is campaigned coast-to-coast. This car is one of two car team of Huffakers, front and rear engine twins, and the only known pair of Huffaker siblings under a common owner and driver.
