1959 Ford Thunderbird Navigation
Ford promoted their 1959 Thunderbird as 'the car everyone would love to own.' The second-generation T-Bird, introduced in 1958, was available in coupe or convertible form. The Convertible featured a power-operated soft top that disappeared into the trunk area, with no boot to mar the ultra-sleek top-down profile.
This particular Convertible is one of just 10,261 examples built in 1959. It is unrestored and still in the hands of its original owner. It was purchased new from North Brothers Ford in Garden City, Michigan and given to the owners wife as a first-wedding anniversary present. The car is equipped with the standard 300-horsepower 352 V8 and a Cruise-O-Matic transmission. Fifty years and 41,000 miles later, the 1959 Convertible is still in the same ownership.
