This 1953 Muntz Road Jet has chassis number 53-525 and is powered by a 318 cubic-inch Lincoln V8 that produces a little over 200 horsepower. There is a four-speed Hydra-Matic Automatic gearbox and an independent front suspension, and a live rear axle. It was offered for sale at the 2006 Gooding & Company Auction held in Pebble Beach, Ca. It was offered without reserve and estimated to sell for $70,000-$110,000.
The body of the Road Jet was designed by Frank Kurtis and promoted by Mad Man Muntz. This example is a well-preserved original with one of the best interiors of its kind. It has never been painted or restored and is believed to be entirely original.
