This Morgan +4 is one of only four Super Sports produced in drop head coupe guise, the Super Sports cars were intended for competition and featured tuned engines and lightweight bodies. The Super Sports +4 was first available in 1962, and in that year one of them (chassis 4840) won the 2-liter GT class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans ahead of all the Porsches driven by Chris Lawrence and Richard Shepherd-Barron. This British racing green and black car was purchased by the current owner in 1983 and restored through 1985. Since then it has been awarded Best in Class at a number of Mogwest and Cambria car shows.
