Originality is the calling card of this 1987 911 Carrera Targa, which placed first in the preservation/unrestored category at two separate PCA Concours events in 2008. Purchased in the late 1980s from the original owner at 55,430 miles, this Carrera has not been restored. The 1987 Carrera received a remap of the Bosch engine management system that was introduced in 1982 along with the 3.2-liter engine. This was good for a boost of 15 horsepower, up to 217 hp SAE net. Porsche also replaced the long-serving 915 transmission with the G50 unit, which was able to handle more power and torque in 1987 and beyond.
