1954 Oldsmobile Super Eighty-Eight Holiday Hardtop

When the Oldsmobile 88 was introduced in 1949 it shared the same platform as the 76. One of the main differences was the larger, more powerful Rocket V8 engine. The song 'Rocket 88' helped in the vehicles popularity. In 1951 the Super 88 model was introduced which would stay in production until 1964 when it was replaced by the Delta 88. In 1958 the Oldsmobile Dynamic Rocket 88 Coupe was introduced. The name '88' would stay with Oldsmobile until the late 1990's.

In the 1950's, the two-piece windshield was replaced with a one-piece windshield. This 1954 Oldsmobile Super 88 Holiday Coupe is finished in Juneau Gray and Polar White with a red leather/gray cloth interior. It was offered for sale at the 2006 Worldwide Group Auction held on Hilton Head Island. It was expected to fetch between $30,000-$40,000. It includes optional equipment such as power steering, Super Deluxe AM radio, clock, rear speakers, tissue dispenser, power brakes, day/night rearview mirror, fender skirts, courtesy light package, backup-lights, and Deluxe disc wheels. Enclosed within the trunk is a spare tire, lug, original trunk mat, and a jack. At the conclusion of the auction, the Super 88 Holiday Coupe was left unsold.
