1948 Cadillac Series 75 Fleetwood Navigation
Fleetwood, which had been an independent coachbuilder, was acquired by Cadillac in the early 1930s. Soon, the Fleetwood label on the Cadillac models soon became synonymous with Cadillac's top-of-the-line cars.
For 1948, the Series 75 models continued GM's prewar 'Turret Top' styling. They were distinguished from the prior models solely by revised emblems and identification scripting.
The Series 75, for 1948, was available in six models, including a commercial chassis. The cars rested on a 136-inch wheelbase while the chassis-only option had a 163-inch wheelbase. There were just 1,282 examples produced, priced from $4,679 for the four-door, nine-passenger Business Sedan. The most expensive body style, the Imperial Sedan, sold for $5,200.
This Seven-Passenger Fleetwood Limousine is mostly original, with the odometer reading just 77,000 actual miles. Amenities include power window lifts, a heater and a clock. The engine is a 346 cubic-inch L-head V8 rated at 150 horsepower.
In 2009, this car was offered for sale at the Vintage Motor Cars of Hershey presented by RM Auctions where it was estimated to sell for $60,000 - $75,000. The lot was sold for the sum of $93,500, including buyer's premium.By Daniel Vaughan | Oct 2009
