1928 Daimler Double Six 50 Limousine

The Double Six, first launched in 1926, was the most famous of all the prewar Daimlers and a genuinely successful rival to Rolls-Royce. The V12 engines were somewhat complex, utilizing many existing parts from Daimler six-cylinder power units, and they were massive, displacing 7.1 liters and delivering 150 bhp. They were also nearly silent, making them ideal for powering massive limousines like this example with a Laundelette body. In its day, the Double Six was very popular with the British royal family, which purchased several of these cars over the years. Less than 500 Double Sixes were built; the model was replaced in the early 1930s.
