For Morgan enthusiasts looking for even greater performance, Morgan offered a special version of its +4 model called the +4 SuperSports, first built in 1961. This car used a specially tuned Triumph TR4 engine prepared by Chris Lawrence of LawrenceTune and developing 125 bhp. Lawrence became the hero of LeMans in 1962 when he won the 2-liter class with a Morgan (TOK 258). The SuperSports came complete with a lightweight body made from aluminum. This car was originally delivered to New York in 1965 and has been completely rebuilt by its current owner, Mahiel Kalf in the Netherlands. It is one of only 92 SuperSports built between 1961 and 1968 before the first Morgan +8.
