The early ownership of this 3.5-liter Drophead Coupe was in the care of Captain Percival Kent, a pilot who had served with the British army during World War I and later joined the Royal Flying Corps.
The coachwork was originally by Hooper, but a fire damaged the body while it sat removed from the chassis during a restoration. A drop head body by Park Ward, originally belonging to another 3.5-liter Bentley produced about a year later with chassis number B31EJ, was used as the replacement.
In 2009, the car was offered for sale at the Gooding & Company auction held at Pebble Beach, CA. It was expected to sell for $275,000 - $375,000 and offered without reserve. The lot was sold for the sum of $165,000, inclusive of buyer's premium.By Daniel Vaughan | Jan 2010
