Cadillac, which was acquired by General Motors in July 1909, launched the Model 30 in 1908, the year that the company adopted its famous 'Standard of the World' slogan. All previous models were dropped and the 'Thirty' became Cadillac's sole offering until September 1914.
The current owner had known about this particular Model 30 since the early 1960s when it was owned by R.B. Minges, the inventor of Mountain Dew. Mr. Minges had driven this car on the National HCCA Tour from Rocky Mount, NC to Washington, DC in 1963. The car changed hands a couple of times and even returned to the Minges family again before the current owner purchased the completely dismantled car in December of 2007. He completed the restoration in time for its 100th birthday.
