1931 Cadillac Series 355-A Eight Phaeton

This classic 1931 Cadillac Fleetwood V-8 Dual Cowl Sport Phaeton 355-A Series by Fleetwood was purchased by the current owners in 2008. The car has been renovated twice in the past five years. For the 1931 model year, 10,717 355 A-Series were produced.

This car has a 353 cubic-inch engine, 134-inch wheelbase, an overall length of 203 inches, and weighs 4500 pounds. The original list price with options was $3,562. The 355-A featured 13 different models, six models by Fisher and seven special custom styles by Fleetwood.

The body for 1931 was longer and lower than previous models. The Cadillac mascot is the Goddess and adorns the radiator cap. The success of the Cadillac brand persisted throughout the hardship of the 1930s due to its impressive styling, engineering, and established network of dealers.

The 1931 Cadillac introduced new features that included a chrome stone guard radiator screen, a single bar bumper, and dual horns. The frame was designed with new side rails and the rear springs were mounted directly under the frame rails. The cooling system included a condenser tank. It also introduced hood side panels with five distinctive ventilator doors on each side.
