1933 Lagonda T-3 Navigation
The original owner of this Lagonda was Mr. W.H. Kiep in February of 1934, who purchased the vehicle through Central Garage of Bradford. After his ownership, it is believed the car passed through several owners, including Peter Whitehead, who would later become famous for driving the winning C-Type at LeMans in 1951, not to mention ERA, Ferraris, and Aston Martins of that period. Around 1949, the car was put into storage and was not seen again until its discovery in 1982.
This 1933 three-liter Lagonda began life as a saloon. After its discovery, the car was treated to a restoration. During the work, the saloon coachwork was removed and a very accurate reproduction of the T series open-body tourer was carefully installed. Cycle-style fenders, cutaway-type running boards, a low-profile windshield, and a racing aero screen complement this sporting body. A high degree of craftsmanship and attention to detail is evident throughout, down to the hinged rear seat, concealing a full set of correct Lagonda tools.
This is one of the three examples in the United States. It is the only one of the three that is fully restored.
A short time after its restoration, the car was brought Stateside, where it entered a prominent collection. It changed hands in 1991 at Pebble Beach. During the 1990s, the car competed in historic tours and was shown throughout the United States. In 2008, the car changed hands, and the new owner embarked on a no-expense-spared restoration, including a full engine rebuild. The cost of work was $83,000.
After the work was completed, it was shown at several major American concours events, including the Newport Beach Concours d'Elegance as well as the Palos Verde Concours in October 2009.
