Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. reported total August sales of 10,365 units, a year-over-year increase of 4.7 per cent. The Kona (2,520 units), Tucson (2,021 units), and Elantra (1,935) were August's three best-selling Hyundai models, respectively. The 2023 World Car of the Year, the IONIQ 6, posted a strong month with 451 units sold, its best sales month since arriving to showrooms in March of this year.
Hyundai's electrified fleet continued to show positive momentum in August with 2,765 units sold, representing over a third (26 per cent) of the total August sales volume. This includes pure electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. The award-winning IONIQ 6 led in pure electrified sales. The 2022 World Car of the Year, the IONIQ 5's, sales hit 389 units in August, bringing total sales since its market launch to over 8,500 units. Total hybrid and plug-in hybrid sales tallied 1,403 units in August 2023, led by the Tucson HEV, with 704 units sold, and the Santa Fe HEV with 273 units sold.
