Scott Pruett is Special Guest to Highlight Picnic in the Park at Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion

MONTEREY, Calif., July 9, 2015 — Sports car racing legend and award-winning winemaker Scott Pruett will be the honored guest at the annual Picnic in the Park at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion on August 15. The Picnic has become a traditional favorite for fans who enjoy hearing the tales of legends during the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, August 13-16 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

The 10-time champion (Rolex Sports Car Series Grand-Am Daytona Prototype, IMSA GT, SCCA Trans-Am) and five-time Rolex 24 at Daytona overall winner will be on stage with noted motorsports historian Murray Smith, recounting stories and tales from Pruett's distinguished four decades-long driving career. The noontime session in the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca Marketplace is a wonderful opportunity for fans to bring their lunch, listen to great racing stories and ask questions of a driving legend.

Additionally, it's not uncommon for other surprise guests to join the session, making it all the more entertaining. Pruett will join an esteemed panel of former guests, including Sir Stirling Moss, Dan Gurney, Bob Bondurant, Sir Jackie Stewart, Bob Tullius and Martin Brundle, who have been Picnic in the Park guests in the past.

'Scott is a generous and fantastic guy to be around … always filled with stories,' says Gill Campbell, CEO/general manager of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. 'And, he's not too shabby a driver and winemaker either.'

The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion is one of the cornerstones of the renowned Monterey Classic Car Week and is the largest event held annually in the scenic coastal community. This year the event celebrates the 50th anniversary of one of America's iconic pony cars, the Shelby GT350. Visitors worldwide will be descending on the community to enjoy the historic cars in action, the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and the myriad of supporting activities that comprise the motoring week.
