96% SALE RATE FOR BONHAMS MOTOR CAR AUCTION

A matching numbers and restored 1966 Aston Martin DB6 Vantage Sport Saloon led the way in Bonhams Greenwich Concours d'Elegance Online Auction, flying past its pre-sale estimate to sell for $500,000 in the digital sale which achieved an impressive 96% sell-through rate and a total of more than $4.3 million.

Of the ten top lots, eight surpassed their pre-sale estimates, including a 6,000-miles from new 2008 Porsche GT3RS Coupé, which achieved $313,000; a 1978 Aston Martin V8 Vantage 'Molded Fliptail' Coupé, one of only 11 US-specification examples, which made $246,400, with both topping their high estimates by nearly $100,000.

Other strong performers included a 1960 Aston Martin DB2/4 MkIII Saloon selling for $224,000, a 1965 Bentley S3 Continental Flying Spur which realised $201,600, while a 1989 Aston Martin Lagonda Series IV Saloon, which had covered just over 2,000 miles from new, made $145,600, double its pre-sale estimate.

The five-day digital edition of the established Bonhams auction offered a boutique selection of 43 collector cars representing mainly European luxury marques via Bonhams.com and the Bonhams app.

Other highlights were:

1961 Bentley S2 Continental Flying Spur, coachwork by H.J Mulliner, which sold above estimate for $156,800.

1912 Kissel Kar Model D-11 Semi-Racer, which sold for $78,400.

The auction also offered 10 motorcycles, produced by the likes of Triumph, BSA and Harley-Davidson, which attained a 100 % sell-through rate. The Automobilia section also achieved a 'white-glove' result with all lots finding buyers.

Eric Minoff, Senior Specialist and Head of Sale, Bonhams US Motor Cars, said: 'This was a sale that exceeded expectations. There was worldwide interest from bidders and buyers across the globe, with intense bidding on across the board, leading to these strong results.'

Bonhams US Motor Cars department is now looking ahead to 2022 and its first live sale of the year, The Scottsdale Auction in Arizona on January 27. Consignments of collector cars are being invited now. Contact us.motors@bonhams.com for further details.
