Rolls-Royce has celebrated the success of local 1st Barnham Scouts, following the opening of a second troop to meet demand. With the Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood just down the road, the scouts drew inspiration from the company's two model families and named the new troops 1st Barnham Phantom and 1st Barnham Ghost.

Rolls-Royce was delighted to host the troops for a tour of the company's manufacturing plant and head office and the opportunity for a close inspection of Phantom, Ghost and Wraith models. The scouts were welcomed to Rolls-Royce by Scouting Ambassador and inspirational adversity champion, Phil Packer MBE.

1st Barnham Scouts recently celebrated its 40th anniversary and currently has 130 children and 30 leaders in the group. The Scout Group offers varied and exciting programmes for boys and girls between the ages of six and 14½ years and consists of two Beaver Colonies, two Cub Packs and two Scout Troops. There are currently 45 scouts and the numbers are expected to continue to rise.

Andrew Ball, Global Corporate Communications Manager, said, 'We were delighted to host 1st Barnham Scouts at the Home of Rolls-Royce and to have the opportunity to celebrate the Group's new scout troops. We would also like to thank Scouting Ambassador Phil Packer MBE, for joining us on this special occasion. Our local community is very important to us and we wish 1st Barnham Scout Group continued success.'

Phil Packer, Scouting Ambassador, said, 'It was a pleasure to welcome 1st Barnham Scouts to Rolls-Royce and to see their enthusiasm for the company's motor cars and the way they are hand-built. In my role as Scouting Ambassador I have seen first-hand how the Scout Association helps young people achieve their full potential in life and make the most of the opportunities presented to them. The scouts were fascinated with the Rolls-Royce Apprenticeship Scheme and I hope that scouts in the UK look into and apply for the many opportunities we learned about tonight.'

Nicola Poulter, Group Scout Leader, 1st Barnham Scouts, said, 'The naming of the troops was entirely driven by the scouts themselves and recognises the success of both the Scout Group and of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. On behalf of 1st Barnham Scouts I would like to thank Rolls-Royce for making this event possible.'

The story doesn't quite end there, as the Rolls-Royce Bespoke Design Team is now hard at work creating new badge designs for the 1st Barnham Phantom and 1st Barnham Ghost troops. The designs will be unveiled later this year.
