1968 Maserati Mexico Coupe

This is one of just 485 Mexicos produced from 1966 to 1973 and is one of 175 equipped with Maserati's 4.7-liter, 290 horsepower V8. In 1969, Mexicos were available with a smaller 4.2-liter V8 as used in the Quattroporte. The majority were delivered to France, Switzerland and Italy. Based on the chassis of the 5000 GT, the model debuted at the 1965 Turin Motor Show. It was well-received prompting Maserti to build more. The production version was introduced one year later at the Paris Auto Show. This car was first owned by Carlo Petrini in Umbria and was imported into the United States in 1970. It was recently purchased by the current owners who became its fourth owners.

Interesting, the Mexico received its name after a Mexican owner crashed a 5000 GT chassis and returned the car to Italy for repair. All subsequent cars received the Mexico moniker. The Mexico became the first Maserati to be equipped with servo-assisted disc brakes at all four wheels.

No auction information available for this vehicle at this time.
