1934 Alvis Speed 20 SB Two-Door Saloon

The Alvis Speed 20 is a CCCA Full Classics in the United States. These British grand tourers were fitted with a tripe-carbureted six-cylinder engine and given an underslung chassis. This particular example is one of eight known surviving Speed 20 SBs with their original 'flat-back' two-door saloon bodies by Vanden Plas. The car was originally supplied to a London dealer before entering the care of a European client. The car was later imported to the United States, where it was on display for over a decade in the San Antonio Museum of Transportation in Texas, from which it was sold in 1994. It was later owned by a few other caretakers before coming into the possession of Edward Hermann. While in his care, it was treated to a restoration, returning it to its original condition. The work also included a rebuild of the engine. The car has been painted in deep olivine green. Since the work has been completed, the car has seen little use.

This Alvis Speed 20 SB Two-Door Saloon wears coachwork by Vanden Plas. Under the bonnet is an overhead valve six-cylinder engine displacing 168.5 cubic inches and offering nearly 90 horsepower. There is a four-speed manual transmission and four-wheel mechanical drum brakes.
