1952 OSCA MT4 Berlinetta

Commissioned by Italian gentleman racer Mario Damonte, this OSCA MT4 was clothed by Vignale (one of four by Vignale in 1952) with a unique design penned by Giovanni Michelotti. It featured very recognizable scalloped sides with prominent vents which provide better ventilation of the motor and the front drum brakes. The car debuted in the 1952 Pescara 12 Hours and finished 17th overall. It participated in the 1952 Le Mans but competed in the 1500 cc class with a 1342 cc engine and retired after 19 hours with a bad clutch. The engine was changed to a 1099 cc to participate in the 1100 cc class of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1953. The car finished 18th overall and won its class at a record pace.

In 1954 the car traveled to Argentina where it scored another class win and finished 11th overall in the Buenos Aires 1000 km race. It competed little after 1954 and was restored to its original 1952 airflow front and given a more complete interior making it a berlinetta street car. The current owner acquired the car in 2015 and completed a restoration in August, 2018 returning it to its original configuration as first raced by Damonte.
